STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The Mother Teresa Awards were not created to select individuals for their theological or philosophical beliefs, but rather to acknowledge those who beautify the world through their God-given gifts and talents. Just as Mother Teresa was called to serve people of all faiths, so will the awards be presented to an array of “world-servants.” The recipients of the awards will rightfully be diverse in their theologies, philosophies, talents and even morals. The awards are not presented for these reasons. They are presented strictly for the “beauty” which the Laureates give to the world. The awards have little to do with spiritual canonization. They have a single purpose ... to acknowledge, honor and thank special souls for choosing to share themselves and their gifts with the world. We do not apologize for presenting awards to liberals. Nor to conservatives. All are God’s children and let us not forget that He continues to command us to respect one another.
